Springside School is part of Springside with Hamer Learning Community and was opened in September 2007.
The building which is sited just off the main roundabout on Halifax Road and Albert Royds Street in Rochdale houses Springside School, Hamer Primary School, and a Sure Start Children's Centre.
Springside school came into being after the closures of High Birch, Birtle View, Alderman Kay, Innes, and Rydings special schools bringing staff and primary aged pupils together from each school and putting them in a new 'state of the art' purpose built environment. The building is also the new home for Hamer Community Primary School which originally had a school on the site at Albert Royds Street, but this building was in need of complete refurbishment and the decision was taken to build a completely new school to house Hamer and Springside schools, together with a Sure Start Children's Centre.
Working together in the shared building brings the pupils of Springside and Hamer into everyday contact with one another, consequently leading to a genuine sense of inclusion.

Our Aims
Here at Springside School our aim is to help our children be happy and self-confident, to do their very best in all they do, to develop a love of learning so that they can make choices now and in the future. We aim to protect each child's right to learn and to celebrate their achievements. We aim to work co-operatively with all members of the school community, parents, and external agencies, recognising the contributions made by everyone to the education and well being of the children. We aim to make a real difference to our children's quality of life and future opportunities through working together.
