Our Governors

Governing body 2016 - 2017

Our Governing body has recently undergone a reconstitution, we are delighted to announce we have had several newly appointed Governors.

Chris Wardley - Parent Governor - Chair of Governors

I was appointed as a Parent Governor in 2013.  I have a son who attends the school and is currently in Key Stage 1.  I was appointed as Chair of Governors over the summer.

Joan Hall - Co-opted Governor - Vice-Chair of Governors

I was first appointed as a Co-opted Governor in 2006 prior to the opening of the school.  I was previously a Deputy Headteacher of a Primary Special School in Bury before I retired in December 2005.

I now work voluntarily as an adviser for Citizens Advice one day a week.  I love cooking, am a keen vegetable gardener and like walking (as long as there are not too many steep hills).  I am also a great fan of Strictly Come Dancing!!

My current areas of Governor responsibility are Safeguarding and Behaviour.

Sadaqat Ali - Local Authority Governor

I have recently been appointed as Local Authority Governor in 2015.

My Current areas of Governor responsibility are Sports/PE Provision and The Quality of Teaching.

Jody McGarraghy - Parent Governor

I was elected in August 2015 as a Parent Governor.  I have a son who attends the school and is currently in Key Stage 1.  I was keen to take up the position of Governor as my son, who is now 6, has now been at the school for around 15 months.  I decided I would like to take more interest & play a more active role in his education.

Springside was my preference for him & after seeing other Special Schools we decided that this was by far the best option for him.  Prior to having my two boys, I gained a degree in International Hospitality Business Management, this took me into the Hotel industry where I stayed for many years until unfortunately due to my commitments at home it was no longer possible to continue with such long working hours.

My husband and I then decided to take over a business in Hebden Bridge - The Pennine Wine and Cheese Company, which we both continue to run together.

My current areas of Governor Responsibility are Early Years Foundation Stage and The Community.

Carole Finn - Co-opted Governor

I was re-elected as a Co-opted Governor in 2015.

My current areas of Governor responsibility are Achievement and Finance.
