Pupil Premium
We believe that all members of our learning community should have access to the same opportunities and experiences, without barriers or restrictions. We believe that it is only through a truly holistic approach—working in partnership with learners, school staff, families and relevant professionals—that we can ensure every learner is supported to achieve their full potential.
We are committed to identifying and removing barriers to learning. Springside is a pilot school for Rochdale Borough Council, working in conjunction with the charity Children North East, as part of the Poverty Proofing the School Dayinitiative. Through this work, we fully support the principle that:
“No activity or planned activity in schools should identify, exclude, treat differently or make assumptions about those children whose household income or resources are lower than others.”
We are committed to supporting learners to develop independence, confidence and self-worth, enabling them to enjoy their lives and achieve more than they may initially believe possible. We work collaboratively with learners and families to enrich all aspects of learners’ lives and to ensure support is responsive, inclusive and aspirational.
All members of staff at Springside, including Governors and Teaching Assistants, accept collective responsibility for learners who may be socially disadvantaged and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs within a nurturing and supportive environment.
As with every learner in our care, pupils identified as socially disadvantaged are valued, respected and entitled to develop to their full potential, irrespective of need or ability.
This statement sets out how the school uses Pupil Premium funding to support disadvantaged pupils. It outlines our Pupil Premium strategy, how funding is allocated during the current academic year, and the impact of previous spending on outcomes for learners.
