Rights Respecting School News, 11.6.21

Here's an overview of this week's Rights Respecting School news...

This week our learners both in school and at home have all enjoyed a fun ocean themed day to celebrate ‘World Ocean Day’. The learners all wore their blue and sea themed clothes and had lots of fun learning about creatures of the deep and how we can work together to keep our oceans clean. Across the school we explored different animals that live in the ocean, learned about the harm plastic can cause to the animals and coral reefs, hunted for plastic in our own homemade ocean bowls, enjoyed a selection of sensory ocean activities and created lots of beautiful sea themed arts and crafts including some made out of recycling bottles we have found in school. Some of our learners have also been discussing the importance of recycling to keep our oceans clean and our steering group are currently discussing launching our own Springside recycling campaigning to help keep our fishy friends safe –watch this space! A huge 'thank you' to staff and parents for getting involved and supporting Springside to make our first ever annual World Ocean day such a splashing success! Next year is going to be even bigger and better!

Have a lovely weekend
