Rights Respecting School News, 12.11.2021

Here's an overview of this week's Rights Respecting School news...
This week the Rights Respecting Steering group have some very exciting news to share with you! Last Friday, staff and learners from Springside took part in a virtual accreditation visit with a lovely lady called Jenny who works for Rights Respecting schools as part of UNICEF. The learners and staff told Jenny all about how hard we have all worked to promote, teach and learn about children’s rights as a school community. We were very proud of the learners as they spoke with great confidence and enthusiasm and their rights using a variety of communication lessons. Jenny considered all of our evidence provided and the conversations she had with learners and staff and I am happy to inform you that she awarded up the Silver award for being a Rights Respecting School- Woohoo! Keep an eye out on the school grounds for our new Silver RRS banner which will be arriving soon along with our special RRS Silver certificate which we cannot wait to put up on display. On Friday the 19th November we will be celebrating UNICEF’s Universal children’s day. A text had been sent home asking learners to wear something blue ready for a fun filled day of celebrating how amazing children are. Finally, Tia has also sent home details of dentists currently accepting children via the NHS on behalf of the RRS steering group. Please do make sure you look at this and register your child with a dentist if they do not currently have one as children have the right to be healthy and access health services and this includes having healthy teeth by seeing a dentist (Article 31).
Happy weekend!
Kirstie and the Rights Respecting School Steering group.
