At Springside Primary School, we strive to promote healthy and active lifestyles and aim to provide sporting opportunities for all our pupils. We welcome the additional funding, which will further enhance our provision and provide additional opportunities for increased participation.

The money was used for:               

  • Equipment to enable fun and active participation in sports and P.E. activities for all our pupils including those with profound and complex needs.
  • CPD (staff training) for curriculum physical education.
  • Specialised equipment for outdoor equipment to ensure that every opportunity for outside curriculum activities is explored.
  • A specialised swimming programme.
  • A range of bikes to meet all needs and road safety sets to encourage outdoor activities in a safe way.
  • Specialised hydro floats to ensure that our pupils with more profound needs are benefitting from the grant.
  • Event and equipment to host a ‘Winter Olympic’ event in school  to celebrate the Winter Olympics.

Evidence of Impact:

  • Indications of the impact of Sport Grant Funding are extremely promising and the funding has already impacted our school in the following ways.
  • Higher levels of pupil interest and enjoyment in sport and sport-related activities.
  • Higher level of engagement in outdoor activities.
  • Progression of skills much more in evidence across the key stages.
  • Higher level of swimming skills evident.
  • Full impact will be monitored through class teacher assessments.
