Bears Class have had a fantastic and exciting start to the year.
In English we have been exploring ‘The Farm’ using our senses. We have smelt the stinky manure, listened to upbeat country music and had great fun wading in mud and splashing in water.
We have also enjoyed dressing up as farmers in checked shirts, wellies and crooks and singing ‘Old McDonald had a Farm’ where we were introduced to the sounds and textures of the farmyard animals.
In our Drama lessons we have continued our farm theme and had our very own Wheelchair Barn Dance. Yee Haw! We have danced alongside a clip of the High Spirit Wheelchair Dancers and learnt routines to the tunes of Hillbilly Rock and 5,6,7,8. It was fabulous and we loved it and Mrs Goddard said that we were “the best line dancers ever”.
This half term the Bears Class have been reading the book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. We loved the songs accompanying the story and using chocolate in many different ways such as painting, We cooked healthy Chocolate and Beetroot Brownie Cakes and made yummy, warm and cold chocolate drinks.
In our maths lessons we have been counting with a funny ‘Witch Song’, We mixed ingredients into a stinky concoction and had fun dancing with the broomsticks.
During our science lessons we have been learning about plants and trees. We have explored the school grounds and found that the Sensory Garden was our favourite place. We also visited a Garden Centre and planted some flowers in our own garden, which we have been helping to care for.
