Care and Control

Please feel free to download a copy of our Behaviour Policy, Restrictive Physical Intervention Policy and our Safeguarding Policy which by clicking here. Alternatively if you require a paper copy please do not hesitate to contact the school office on 01706 764451 or via email: office@springside.rochdale.sch.uk. These documents should be read in conjunction with each other.

Within our school community we develop and promote a happy, safe and secure environment.  We recognise and reward achievement’s, including the rewarding of good behaviour.  We recognise each learner is an individual and thus each individual learner’s behaviour is developed accordingly.

If you have any concerns regarding the behaviour of your child or another learner please contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance.  If a learner is at risk of hurting themselves or others, or if the behaviour of a learner seriously disrupts good order in school or causes damage to property, staff may need to physically intervene.

Most staff in the Exploratory and Investigative Phase are qualified in the ‘Team Teach’ approach, a nationally recognised and British Institute of Conflict Management (ICM) accredited training package that includes positive handling strategies in addition to verbal and non-verbal de-escalation and behaviour support. As a school we also have 3 Team Teach Tutors which allows us to train and update our own staff with strategies and support, specifically designed and relevant to our learners and school.
