The Giraffes class is a Key Stage 2 class.  Within the Giraffes class are many of our most able pupils who are learning in a more formal environment. The focus is on social skills, turn taking and developing independence to support pupils to access a wider range of experiences. The Giraffes spend their mornings doing English and Maths. In English lessons they are learning the basic concepts of reading, letter formation and developing their speaking and listening skills. In Maths, they will be developing their knowledge of number and 2D and 3D shapes.  Afternoons focus on a range of curriculum areas including Science, History, Geography, P.E and Art.  PE is on a Tuesday where children learn a number of skills to be used in games alongside learning more about how their body works.  Later in the year, children able to access it will attend swimming sessions on a Wednesday afternoon.  Bi weekly bus trips also help the Giraffes to develop life skills they will need as they grow as well as enriching the curriculum with specifically planned trips to support their learning.
