Upper Key Stage 2 Spring Term Blog

Class 8 - It has been another busy term in Class 8 and we have worked very  hard!

We have enjoyed our topic ‘Spring has Sprung’.

In Literacy, we have studied ‘The Tiny Seed’ which has been the perfect opportunity to travel through the seasons and understand the weather changes. We have explored a very colourful world and have been inspired by Eric Carle’s beautiful illustrations to create our own, just as beautiful!

In RE, we have learnt about Easter Celebrations and have been involved in role-play activities and re-enacted the last supper. We have really enjoyed smelling, tasting and sharing some delicious hot cross buns. As part of our ‘Donkey Therapy’ programme, some children have enjoyed grooming the animals and have been really brave to       experience a little ride. Well done! Class 8 wish you a Happy Easter.

In Science, we have been looking at animals and their habitats and were very lucky to meet Mrs Kelly’s pet tortoise and the new chicks recently hatched.

Class 9 - We have been learning about Fantasy stories in Literacy. We had to describe   settings and characters. We listened to the story “Where the Wild Things Are” and role played the character “ Max”.

In Humanities we have learned about “Britain since 1950s”. We have looked at different fashion, music and technology through the different decades. This term some of us have learned how to ride a bike. It has been an amazing experience. In PE we have used the   apparatus to balance, climb and move along on different levels.

Class 10 - We are all looking forward to our Easter Holiday. Lots of things have been going on this term. We have been enjoying our hatching programme once again and we managed to raise 9 chickens from the 12 eggs we  received! We all enjoyed holding them in our hands.  We also had a really good time observing  the eclipse through our  telescope as you can see and it coincided very well with our topic Earth and Outer Space.  In class we have been working on   Descriptive Settings in Literacy and  we all enjoyed a trip to the airport for  data handling  in Maths.
